123: Digitizing Invisible Heritage: Recreating Urban Memories
This study investigates how erased urban memories can be reactivated through playful and meaningful approaches. It explores intergenerational listening, digital reconstruction, and virtual reality applied to a historical monument in Passo Fundo, RS, Brazil. Based on action research, three groups participated: an elderly woman who shared her memories, an architecture student who mediated the process and created digital models, and children (ages 4–5) who experienced the results in virtual reality. Using tools such as SketchUp Pro, V-Ray, Google Earth Pro, and Meu Passeio Virtual, the team produced immersive, visually rich environments at low cost. The project addresses Digital Heritage, Memory and Identity, and Social Engagement, proposing an innovative method to revive urban memories made invisible by time or neglect. The emotional engagement between generations demonstrated the potential of immersive technologies to promote learning, belonging, and cultural continuity, offering a replicable model for digital memory preservation.
