373: Parametric Design In The Architectural Design Process: A Systematic Literature Review

Architecture evolves in line with social and technological transformations. Parametric design emerges in this context as an approach that redefines the way we think about and teach architectural design. The research aimed to map and analyze how parametric design has been discussed over the past five years, focusing on the SIGraDi proceedings. Through a systematic literature review, 517 articles were evaluated, of which 12 were selected and classified to define a general overview of the topic. Two analyses were conducted, one based on the search protocol and the other on the theoretical foundation. Both indicated that, although parametric design enables a broadly integrative approach, the analyzed works reveal a concentration on isolated parts of the design process. The vision of complete integration of the design process with parametric design, which is capable of optimizing the design stages as a whole, is not broadened.
