380: Digital Twin Creation Process Applied To A University Building
This study presents the development of a Digital Twin Prototype for a section of the Library of the Faculty of Architecture at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, demonstrating how Digital Twins enhance operational efficiency and maintenance in the AECO sector. The methodology combined Terrestrial Laser Scanning, advanced BIM modeling, and continuous environmental data acquisition through sensors connected to a NodeMCU ESP-8266 board. Data were managed and visualized on open-source, cloud-based platforms, enabling real-time environmental monitoring and asset management. The prototype supported predictive maintenance by identifying deviations in temperature and humidity and optimizing HVAC system performance. These results illustrate the practical benefits of Digital Twin implementation in Brazilian public buildings and highlight the relevance of academic–public sector collaboration for advancing smart building management.
